BirdFest
Audubon Country BirdFest Calling on all outdoorers, especially birders! The annual Audubon Country BirdFest will be held on April 4-6, 2008 with headquarters for registration and departures at the St. Francisville Inn.
Guided birding trips will visit spectacular wildlife areas and privately owned properties, Actiivites in adjacent Parker Memorial Park will take place on Saturday and a reception and seminar on Friday night.
Pilgrimage
Audubon Pilgrimage The Annual Pilgrimage is dedicated to the memory of John James Audubon, who set himself the task of painting all the birds in America. Audubon painted no less than 80 of his famous folios here. The wooded blufflands excited his imagination; the early settlers who built homes in this wilderness became his friends and supporters. Oakley, where Audubon came to tutor Eliza Pirrie in 1821, is the centerpiece of the Audubon State Historic Site. The West Feliciana Historical Society stages the Pilgrimage to share with visitors the history of Audubon's Happy Land.
Hummingbirds
Feliciana Hummingbird Celebration The Feliciana Nature Society will hold their annual Feliciana Hummingbird Celebration on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26, 2008 in St. Francisville & West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. The event will include a Friday evening speakers and the opportunity to observe hummingbirds up close as they are banded at two private homes in the St. Francisville area and one other home for viewing and light refreshments.. Hummingbird-friendly plants as well as crafts and birding optics will also be available for sale.
